Men’s Work

I lead groups for men to discover their authenticity, unwind cultural conditioning and accept themselves.

Starting October 1st, I am leading the The Good Enough Men's Group, — using a somatic framework, we will be weaving in parts work, meditation, and psychodynamic theory.

  • Thursdays 7-9 pm

  • 8 weeks

  • Online

This is for male-identifying folks looking for a space to be real, to be witnessed in their messy truth, and to move towards sharing their gifts with the world! The men's group will explore topics such as shadow work, family roles, career, the inner child, intimacy, pornography, gender norms, and friendship.

I am also co-facilitating an in-person, drop-in men's group that is every other Tuesday in Joaquin Miller Park called The Fire Circle.

Did you know only 1 in 20 guys has a male friend they can talk to about their feelings?

Loneliness does not come from having no one around, but from being unable to communicate the things important to oneself.

Men are taught to stuff their feelings down until it is too late—until addictions (porn, weed, binge-eating, sex, relationships, exercise) wreck their lives and strain their relationships.

*(Addiction = prefix: -a + diction — meaning lacking verbalization, without the ability to speak)*

Patriarchal values emphasize the acquisition of power, rational thinking, problem solving, and being in control. Male stereotypes hold power over men, limiting who they can comfortably be by rewarding some qualities and rejecting others.

When we need to conform in order to be acceptable, we may end up wearing a false face and playing an empty role if who we are inside and what is expected of us are far apart.
